To: CUPE 951 members
All members are encouraged to get up to speed on the issues at Bargaining and the need to move forward to take a positive strike vote to address inflation and job security and fend off attacks on our collective agreement.
A new Bulletin will be circulated soon, however it's also a good time for representatives from your Negotiating Committee to meet with smaller groups from specific departments.
We have scheduled several meetings this week where you can drop in for 30-45 minutes.

In preparation, we will be closing the Bargaining Overview survey tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday March 31) so that the information can be tabulated and handed over to the Negotiating Committee.
If you have not already taken the poll, it can be found at: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/951overview -- there are just a few questions and they will help steer the direction of our negotiations.
Reports from the Bargaining Committee are attached below. Please click to download or launch in the appropriate program. If you cannot open the files, please contact the web administrator for a different file type or for a print copy if needed.

To communicate with members about bargaining and negotiation issues, we will be using the CUPE 951 Bargaining listserv. Members can subscribe at: http://lists.cupe.ca/mailman/listinfo/cupe951bargaining -- in order to maintain the list as 951 members only, administrators may need to approve new subscriptions.
We strongly urge all members to subscribe with a non-work email address where possible to ensure, in the event of a strike or lockout that information is still available to the membership. If a member would prefer not to receive duplicate emails, administrators will unsubscribe the work email address once a non-work address has been confirmed.
To save administrators some time, if you would like to change your subscription info, you may wish to contact the listserv admin (go to the Contact Us page and select Bargaining Listserv Administrators from the dropdown) and let us know your preferred email contact and the email you would like removed from the list so that we can maintain the list as members-only.
University workers set to bargain
VICTORIA – University support workers in several CUPE locals have served notice to bargain with their respective employers.
The CUPE workers provide important services at universities across the province including maintenance, administrative support, custodial support, food services, horticulture, child care, teaching assistance, print shops, IT services/technical support and library services.
Serving notice were CUPE 917, CUPE 951, one component of CUPE 4163 (University of Victoria), CUPE 3886 (Royal Roads), CUPE 3338 (Simon Fraser University), CUPE 4879 (Thompson Rivers University), and CUPE 3799 (University of Northern BC). The Teaching Support Services Union at SFU also served notice to bargain Monday.
Most of the locals have collective agreements which expire tomorrow (March 31).
VANCOUVER —Support workers in CUPE locals 116 and 2950 at the University of British Columbia have served notice for bargaining.
The two locals represent 3,600 workers in trades, custodial, food services, clerical, library, technicians, and support workers at the Chan centre. They join university support workers in other CUPE locals across the province whose contracts expire today (March 31). CUPE university workers' locals are coordinating their independent bargaining efforts through CUPE’s Universities Coordinated Bargaining Committee.
