COVID-19 update from your President
Hello CUPE 951 Members,
In the unprecedented time we are facing the challenge of new ways to continue working; some working remotely while others remain on campus or on-call. As some of our members may be called in to maintain critical services, I know safety and our health will remain on the top of our minds under these conditions.
Our coworkers in CUPE 917 are doing their very best to clean the areas we work in.
CUPE workers on the front line have never been more apparent than in a time like this. Many of us have gone from day-to-day interactions with students and colleagues to only being behind a screen and feeling isolated from your usual surroundings. Remember that your mental health is important during these times of uncertainty; check in with friends, family and colleagues if you need.
I know our members are all being kind and mindful of the vulnerable people in our communities and helping where you can, if you can, in a safe manner – for that I want to thank you.
Though we do not know when we will be able to return to our ‘normal’ day-to-day routines; as some are estimating it may take up to 40-50 days before COVID-19 peaks. I recommend that our members continue to check the UVic website for updates.
