Stop the sale of plasma in Canada

Plasma-For-SaleA private company is going to move to B.C. and endanger our safe blood supply unless we stop them.

Join your community Tuesday, May 10th at 6:30 pm to learn more about the threat of paid plasma and what you can do to help keep our blood system safe.

The hosts will be speaking along with Kat Lanteigne, advocate and co-founder of BloodWatch.org, at this free public town hall meeting at the Reach Gallery Museum in Abbotsford.

Tainted blood infected 30,000 Canadians with HIV and Hepatitis C in the 1980’s during one of the worst preventable health crises of our time. An inquiry into the scandal found that in order to prevent another tragedy, Canada must not allow payment for blood and plasma donations.

B.C. needs to ban blood brokers. Join us on Tuesday, May 10th to learn what you can do to help protect our safe blood supply from predatory profiteers.

When: Tuesday, May 10th from 6:30-7:30 pm
Where: Cook Street Village Activity Centre, 380 Cook St, Victoria, BC (map)

p.s. The public and safe blood advocates successfully pressured the Ontario government to pass a ban on pay-for-plasma in 2014. We can do the same here in B.C., but it’s going to take a big collective effort to make it happen. Please join us on Sunday to add your voice to the call for safe blood in B.C.
