Motion for Ceasefire
“CUPE 951 calls on the Canadian government to call for an immediate and permanent humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza, an end to the blockade of Gaza and the restoration of humanitarian aid and access to essential products, and to work towards a peaceful resolution that respects the right to life and freedom of the Palestinian and Israeli people.
CUPE 951, in solidarity with UVic students, is calling for a clear statement from the University of Victoria President that calls for an immediate permanent ceasefire in Gaza, an end to the blockade of Gaza and the restoration of humanitarian aid and access to essential products. Noting that there are no remaining higher education institutions in Gaza, and that Universities in North America are powerful economic and political actors, CUPE 951 calls upon the University of Victoria to support work towards a peaceful resolution that respects the right to life and freedom of the Palestinian and Israeli people.”
