Letter From President Kara White

Hello 951 Members,

I am writing to you today to officially inform you that I do not intend to put my name forward for President in the upcoming elections. Four years ago, I ran on a platform of change and the local comes first.  With the help from you, a plan was developed that included a re-organization of the office filing system, an electronic search ability to bargaining notes, conclusion of old grievances, a re-vamp of the financials which resulted in a lowering of union dues and a more collaborative approach with the employer.

Thank you for having trust in me to lead your Local. It has been an amazing experience that has provided me the opportunity to grow and I encourage all members to volunteer to serve your local. Now is a good opportunity to choose what issues we as a membership want to tackle and how we want to be governed. It takes many hands to run this local and the strength of the collective agreement depends on membership involvement. I hope you all consider putting your name forward.

It has been a pleasure to serve as your leader but it is time for me to re-direct my focus on my family and my career.

I look forward to the next phase in the local.

Sincerely,

Kara White
