United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities -December 3
Approximately 16% of the worlds population (1 in 6) experience significant disability. Across the globe, persons with disabilities still face innumerable barriers to social inclusion, such as securing stable employment and access to health care. This day is a time to reflect on the necessary work still to be done in reducing barriers and increasing the accessibility of all aspects of society. Locally, the Victoria Disability Resource Centre provides important information, support, and training and is always in need of donations to continue running, if your budget can allow it.
The CUPE BC Persons with Disabilities committee and CUPE National provide many useful resources and suggestions actions you can take on this day and every day.
