The Canadian Red Cross is pleased to announce that 10 banks in Canada will be accepting cash donations from the public in support of Red Cross efforts to assist those affected by the massive wildfires in Alberta.

“This is the largest fire-related evacuation in Alberta history,” says Conrad Sauvé, president and CEO of the Canadian Red Cross. “Thanks to participating banks, Canadians will have another method to donate to support Red Cross activities in response to this emergency.”

Red Cross teams are on the ground providing support to those affected, including shelter, food, water, and other basic necessities. So far, more than 80,000 people have been forced to flee their homes due to evacuation orders, in more than 12 northern communities, including Fort McMurray. Families and individuals who have been evacuated can register with the Red Cross by calling 1-888-350-6070 or online at Registering helps reconnect family members and provides emergency response agencies with necessary information to mobilize resources.
