International Women’s Day
March 8th marks this year’s International Women’s Day, with the theme “Accelerate Action”. Around town, visit the International Women’s Fair on March 8th and 9th at Oakland’s Community Association or have brunch on March 8th with the Victoria Labour Council from 10:30-12:00, with an event at the Ambrosia Centre afterwards. On a heavier note, attacks on the human rights of women and more specifically trans women are increasing in this political climate. When the rights of one group are targeted and removed, it creates ripple effects and puts the rights of all at risk. The IDEA committee encourages everyone to not become discouraged and use the energy and momentum of Women’s Day to continue fighting for the human rights of all women.”
