Return to campus 2021
As the University looks to transition back to campus over the summer your Union is here and ready to assist with anything from questions about accommodation to workplace safety and remote working. We welcome a safe return and look forward to seeing everyone again, more importantly; we want to make sure you are supported as we work together with UVic on these important issues. Some of our members are still on temporary layoff during this time and we are working with UVic to make sure they are covered by the workforce adjustment letter of agreement until their expected return on or before September 30. 2021.
Our Local has been meeting regularly with the PEA and UVic FA as well as the other CUPE locals on campus during the last 15 months to talk about how the pandemic has effected us all and how we can work together to support all workers.
On May 10, 2021, the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Training hosted a Town Hall to discuss the preliminary public health guidance for September 2021 provided in the COVID-19 Return-to-Campus Primer. In addition to providing assurances on post-secondary’s plans for the fall are aligned with public health advice, Dr. Bonnie Henry and other public health representatives addressed a range of questions related to the following important topics:
- Vaccine timetable,
- Accommodation,
- Go Forward Guidelines and control measures, including masks, and
- Testing/tracing and outbreak management.
Members are encouraged to watch this recent Town Hall by clicking here to view the recorded session.
